Our Young Guns profile takes a weekly look at some of the young talent across the advertising, ad tech, marketing and media sector in Australia. It aims to shed light on the varying roles, people and companies across the buzzing industry.
Today we speak to Nine digital account executive Monika Bujcevski.
How long have you been in the industry?
One year and three months.
How did you get here?
I studied a Bachelor Business and Commerce majoring in marketing, while studying I had multiple part time jobs one including being a marketing assistant. Funny enough I have a hidden passion for interior design and wanted to study that at university. I decided to study a business degree, travel Europe and just over a year ago landed myself a role in digital advertising at Nine.
Who's your right hand person?
My parents. They manage to find a way to stay positive in every situation. They support me to succeed and get me back up when I’m not feeling motivated. I couldn’t get through every day without them. Absolute legends.
What’s the best thing about the industry you work in?
The people are incredible, so intelligent and full of energy, super fun industry to be apart of. There are some many inspiring people I work with everyday.
And the biggest challenge?
The digital landscape/media industry changes so frequently, so it most definitely keeps things interesting. There is constantly something new to learn or be a part of. It is exciting and challenging at the same time. It’s fast pace and keeps me on my feet.
Whose job have you set your sights on in the future?
I haven’t set my eyes on a role for the future, but I hope to share my passion and inspire future generations.
Where do you turn for inspiration?
My younger brother because of his determination and passion to reach his goal. He moved out when he was 18 to chase his dream of becoming a NFL punter in America. He’s currently living in Texas as a punter for the Longhorns. He reminds me that you can achieve anything if you put your heart and soul into it.
My favourite advert is:
The Cadbury ad with the crazy eyebrows.
Tell us one thing people at work don’t know about you?
Whilst I have a full time role at Nine I am also a part time food blogger on Instagram (@sydneyfoodies_).
In five years' time, I'll be:
Crawl my way up the ranks, I will still challenge myself and continue learning every step of the way.
