VW account in play

Volkswagen's creative account is up for review, AdNews has learnt.

At least one Sydney-based agency is hoping to take the business from incumbent DDB and has begun preliminary pitching for the account.

Those vying for the account will have their work cut out. Volkswagen is aligned with the DDB Group globally. Last time one of the group companies pitched, Audi, it was retained by DDB-owned Rapp.

However, the VW account in New Zealand moved from DDB to Colenso earlier this year, which proves that the global alignment can be bucked, and it is likely that the two marketing teams are closely aligned.

DDB could not confirm that the account was in play and VW could not be reached for comment.
