AdNews brings the stories of those working from home (WFH) in the advertising and media industry during the coronavirus crisis.

Fay Afshar is head of experience design (digital) at NOVA Entertainment, based in the Sydney office:

How are you dealing with the silence?

As an introvert I must admit the quiet is welcomed, although I really struggle without my local café! In between meetings, I like to uplift the vibe by playing Nova on my smart speakers.

What’s the upside?

Definitely not having to commute, I will never miss spending three hours on trains and trams per day.

The downside?

My father being stuck overseas and unable to come back home is the most difficult aspect of this situation.

How are you using the commuting time saved?

My physio has got me walking one hour a day, as well as stretching at lunch. In a strange way my body is benefiting from this lockdown. Plus I can catch up on all my favourite podcasts while I walk in fresh air.

I am looking forward to being back in the office because...

I miss my work family. While in the digital team we can all work from home easily, it’s the human interactions that I miss.
