Charges of sexual assault against Chris Laws, an executive in the advertising industry, were withdrawn today during a brief hearing in the NSW Local Court.

He and marketer Ben Foote had been facing charges relating to a social event in 2018. Police had been interviewing a number of industry figures who attended.

Charges against Foote have also been withdrawn. Costs to be decided.

The charges related to Laws’ time as managing director at agency Born & Raised in Sydney’s Crows Nest.

Foote is a former CEO of the Australian Institute of Management (AIM), former CEO of job search platform CareerOne and former managing director of PPS, a fully owned subsidiary of Singtel Optus.

The complainant cannot be named for legal reasons.
