Salvos Stores named AdNews Marketing Team of the Year

Salvos Stores has been named Marketing Team of the Year (sponsored by Boomtown) at the AdNews Agency of the Year Awards held at the SCG.

The team was chosen against a strong field, including finalists Bonds, Cashrewards and Tourism Australia. 

“Judges were impressed with the resourcefulness of the Salvos team of just three fulltime and one part time person. And how they empowered their vision through the organisation, including 370 retail stores, resulting in a record breaking year.”

Punching above their weight. “Salvos Stores? We’re not (just) your Nana’s op shop.” 

With more than 370 retail stores nationally and an online store, customers kept more than 40 million items out of landfill and in circulation while funding the social work of The Salvation Army in supporting nearly 2 million Australians in need every year.

The marketing team at Salvos Stores (internally known as the Customer Experience team) aren’t there to make sales.

“That’s necessary, but we’re not about sales for sales-sake. So, what is it?

“We believe in a tomorrow where our planet is benefitted by communities and industries alike embracing the circular economy with their purchasing power. But it’s not enough for the planet to be cared for, its inhabitants deserve dignity too. The tomorrow we see has support and care for anyone experiencing hunger, homelessness, or any kind of hurt.

“That’s why we’re working to inspire Australians to embrace circularity and change their behaviour accordingly. Because as both demand (customer purchases) and supply (items donated) grow for Salvos Stores and the wider charity retail industry, we get closer to that tomorrow. The collective impact of the circular economy grows, and 100% of the profits made in that process go towards helping people in need."
