oOh!media New Zealand is using its platform to provide free advertising space for women-owned and led businesses around Aotearoa, to show support and celebrate International Women’s Day this year.

This week more than 600 oOh!media digital screens around Aotearoa will be showcasing women-led locally owned and operated businesses including the likes of Emma Lewisham, Lamplight Books, NOM*d, Sets, Starving Artists Fund, to name a few.

International Women’s Day is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. Each year, this day serves as a powerful reminder of the progress made towards gender equality and highlights the work that still needs to be done.

This year’s theme for International Women’s Day is #InspireInclusion, and encourages everyone to recognise the unique perspectives and contributions of women from all walks of life.

Head of marketing at oOh!media New Zealand Kelly Harvey said oOh! is proud to be partnering with International Women’s Day to showcase Kiwi women-led business.

"What better way to inspire others than to champion those who are already making significant waves? AsNZ's largest Out of Home network we have an important platform, and this opportunity allows us to not only empower women-led businesses but inspire commuters," Harvey said.

The Curve founder Victoria Harris said the financial education platform is so excited to see a company the size of oOh! empower women in business on a national level.

"This is an awesome opportunity for us to shine light on our wāhine and all the hard work we all do," Harris said.

"The Curve was inspired by the powerful women we were raised by, and we hope to do the same and remind women that they can do anything they set their minds too.”

Entrepreneurs and founders of Sets Grace Ko and Emily Janus said they're not strangers to facing gender adversity as a business in the music industry, due to its male dominated nature.

"To be recognised and celebrated as women-led is extra impactful," Ko and Janus said.

"We get a lot of energy and fuel from the support of wāhine collectives, and it is wonderful to see a campaign uplifting the community.

"Advocating for safer club practices via quality hearing protection was born through the experience of being a minority in the industry/club. This plays a huge part in our vision for a safer, more inclusive nightlife ecosystem.”

More than 30 women-led and owned businesses will be included in the International Women’s Day showcase, including a range of businesses and industries such as financial services, retail, FMCG and many more.
