OMD launches social media offering

SYDNEY: OMD has launched a social media division called OMD Word headed up by Cate Mathers, following its launch at the agency's New York outpost last year.

Mathers joined OMD in October last year, having previously worked at Photon Group's aborted social media agency, The Population.

OMD Word will be driven by a cross-functional team of specialists, working across search, display and analytics.

According to Nielsen Online, 64% of Australian internet users belong to Facebook, spending more than seven hours per month on the site.
