SYDNEY: Nyree Corby, the founder of The Topia Project, has left SapientNitro after just five months with the agency.

Corby joined as business strategy director in December 2009 bringing with her a number of clients from her agency The Topia Project, which went into administration in May 2009.

SapientNitro told AdNews, the "amicable" departure was the result of a change in strategic direction for one of her clients, after plans to launch a campaign and marketing activity with SapientNitro fell through.

SapientNitro National managing director Michael Branagh said: "We're disappointed that we were not able to continue to support this role. Our business revolves around clients and their activity. Sometimes that activity just doesn't pan out the way it was planned.

"Nyree is one of the most passionate people I have met, her energy and enthusiasm for our industry and people will ensure she continues to build upon her already outstanding career achievements. We wish her well."

AdNews understands Corby has plans to launch her own business.
