Marcel hires digital creative 

Marcel, the recently opened Publicis agency headed up by David Nobay, has hired a digital creative director. Bridget Jung has more than 20 years experience. She is formerly chief creative officer at DigitasLBi Paris and has worked on clients including Hermès, Louis Vuitton and Lancôme.

Jung will work under the agency’s ECD Scott Huebscher, who joined when the shop opened from Leo Burnett.

Daily Mail UK confirms moves to bid for Yahoo

The Daily Mail UK has emerged as a suitor for Yahoo Inc.’s internet assets, reports the Wall Street Journal. The parent company of the British newspaper, the Daily Mail and General Trust, has said it was in early stage discussions with several parties about a possible bid for Yahoo, which will help boost advertising revenues from the Mail’s online news site.

SBS rolls out anti-adblockers

SBS has started the roll out of anti-adblocking technology across its SBS On Demand services including the network's website, iOS and Android apps.

Delivered by Switch Media’s AdEase - which is being showcased to the world at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) conference in the United States next week - it enables SBS to maximise its online revenues by invalidating the increasing number of adblocking apps. The news follows yesterday's announcement by Ten to also implement adblocking software.

US video SSP raises Valley capital

Altitude Digital, one of the top 10 video ad properties in the United States, according to Comscore, has raised a further $17.5 million in new funding, according to TechCrunch.

Arena is Altitude’s customisable, self-serve supply-side-platform, allowing online publishers to manage their advertising inventory, in this case video ads.

BMF boosts creative team

BMF has bolstered its creative team with the appointment of Tim Bishop as associate creative director and the appointment of two new teams: creative duo Jess Roberts and Justin Butler, together with Nadia Ahmad and Tom Johnson.

Bishop has been in advertising for 14 years and most recently he spent three years at Clemenger BBDO Melbourne working across Carlton United Breweries, Bonds, Origin Energy, Dulux and NAB. Roberts and Butler met in AWARD School in 2013 and have been working together since. Ahmad joins from Wieden + Kennedy Shanghai where she worked on Nike, now she will pair up with Johnson.

Glaceau smartwater launches in Australia

Coca-Cola South Pacific has today announced the launch of Glaceau smartwater in Australia, a premium water brand, which will expand the Australian water category. The launch comes as Coca-Cola seeks to leverage a significant marketing opportunity to drive category value.

Sphere reposition and launch content platform for Chatime

The Sphere Agency has been appointed by global teahouse chain, Cha time, to reposition the brand in the Australian marketplace. The brand has 68 stores in Australia which it plans to expand over the next five years.

The ‘You’ve never had iced tea like this before’ content platform will re-introduce audiences to Chatime’s range of iced teas across print, t-breweries, social media, activations, PR and a TVC airing nationally.

Melbourne shop rebrands as DPR&Co

Melbourne independent creative agency Accelerator has rebranded as DPR&Co following its acquisition of Ralphsmith Communications in February. “As a business we wanted to build on our position as a strategically focussed quiet achiever to become, to use our parlance, a highly-creative extrovert,” said agency principal Phil Huzzard. The agency works with  Ambulance Victoria, Honda and Sabco. 

Just Cuts announces Family Feud’s Grant Dyer as ambassador

Hairdressing Company Just Cuts has announced Family Feud host, Grant Denyer, as its official brand ambassador for 2016. Grant joins the brand again after the success of his ambassador role in 2015. Just Cuts will also sponsor the racing car driver in the 2016 CAMS Australian GT Championship.

Seven West Media appoints general manager

Seven West Media today confirmed the appointment of Ben Roberts-Smith VC MG as general manager of Seven Brisbane. Roberts-Smith takes on this new role in addition to his current role as general manager of Seven Queensland, following the resignation of Max Walters last month.
