October growth for OOH

The out-of-home (OOH) industry has reported an increase of 10.5% year-on-year from the month of October, with a net media revenue of $78.1 million. Year-to-date media revenue has increased by 16.3%, tracking at $625.1 million, up from $537.7 million for the same time last year. Digital OOH  media revenue makes up 39.8% of total media revenue, up from 25.6% for the same period last year.

Ooh completes Executive Channel Network buy

Ooh!Media has completed its aquisition of the Executive Channel Network, following an announcement last month that the outdoor company would pay $68 million for the business. The move is in line with OohMedia's strategy to diversify its offering in the digital market. Ooh!Media has also signed a long-term contract with Cairns airport extending its rights to the airport's domestic and international terminal OOH inventory and adding digital assets.

Saatchi's transformation lead heads to TBWA\Auckland

Current managing partner of transformation at Saatchi & Saatchi Sydney, Catherine Harris, has been named the new managing director of TBWA\Auckland.

Harris is a returning Kiwi, having spent the last 15 years working in the UK and Australia for agencies including Ogilvy, Saatchi & Saatchi and Havas. During seven years at TBWA\London, she ran the Nissan business across Europe. Harris has diverse category experience across banking, retail, automotive, alcohol and tech. In 2015, under her leadership, the ‘Penny the Pirate’ campaign for OPSM was ranked as the No. 1 campaign for Effectiveness in the World by the Effies and also won a Cannes Innovation Lion.

She commences her new role in December.

Ikon SEO director joins SheSays board

Ikon Communications SEO director Jules Ward has joined the board of global networking group SheSays, and will lead the Sydney arm replacing Yasmin Quemard who stepped down from the role earlier this year. Ward takes on the voluntary role in addition to her post at Ikon. She has previously held roles at Starcom and Columbus Agency. 

Australia to compete in Eurovision for third consecutive year

Australia will compete in the Eurovision Song Contest for the third consecutive year, with the competition to be held in Kyiv, Ukraine in May 2017.
