Liverpool Football Club and England football legend John Barnes is on Australian turf to announce a new mobile tie-up between Alcatel and Liverpool FC. The move sees smartphone and tablet maker Alcatel become the official partner and smartphone of the world renowned football team. The deal is for the Australia and New Zealand.

The partnership sees a wide range of marketing initiatives undertaken across both markets capitalising on the popularity of the ‘Reds’, enabling Alcatel to offer Australian and New Zealand supporters access to “money-can’t-buy moments” surrounding the iconic team. The aim of the new partnership is to propel brand awareness for Alcatel, which it says, is the third biggest selling smartphone manufacturer in Australia.  

New MD for Amnet ANZ

After two years as Amnet’s GM and three years with Dentsu Aegis Network, Indy Khabra has been promoted to MD of Dentsu’s programmatic offering, Amnet. Amnet specialises not only in programmatic buying, but also in the planning, analysis and activation of audience data.

Pia Miller named as GHD brand ambassador

Hair styling brand GHD has announced actress Pia Miller as its brand ambassador for print and online campaigns. Miller is best known for her regular role on Home and Away and has recently starred as the Qantas In-Flight Entertainment Presenter. Miller joins GHD’s team alongside lead ambassador Jayne Wild and creative director Richard Kavanagh.

Second night of The Bachelorette up on premiere

The second episode of Ten’s The Bachelorette is up slightly on its premiere episode, with 703,000 tuning in at 730pm last night. It was the third most watched entertainment program of the night, behind Nine’s RBT (756,000) and Ten’s Gogglebox (705,000).

Pokemon Go no longer the top grossing app in US Apple's App Store

Pokémon Go has been knocked out of the top spot on the US charts after 74 days as the top grossing app in the Apple store.  According to a report from Sensor Tower, Pokemon Go has been overthrown by Supercell’s Clash Royale. While it still remains the top-grossing app in Australia and seven other countries, the hype has begun to slow and it is likely to drop in other markets.

Instagram grows advertisers

Instagram has grown its advertisers on the platform from 200,000 in February to 500,000 today. The top five countries seeing advertiser adoption are the U.S., Brazil, UK, Australia and Canada. Additionally, in the two months following the launch of Instagram Business Tools, more than 1.5 million businesses converted to a business profile on Instagram.
