L-R: David Bell, Julie Dormand and Nick Mercer.

MercerBell has apponted Julie Dormand to CEO and Nick Mercer has moved into the chairperson role.

Dormand, who is the current managing director, will begin on the 1 January 2019 and will report to Publicis Communications ANZ CEO Michael Rebelo. As the longest serving member of MercerBell, Dormand has been with the business since 2001.

The shake-up comes as Saatchi & Saatchi, part of the Publicis Groupe, completes its three-year acquisition of MercerBell.

Dormand replaces founding partner Nick Mercer who has been named chairperson of the business and will report to Rebelo as well as Publicis Media CEO Matt James.

“MercerBell was already working with Publicis Communications clients and to begin with had a unique positioning in the Australian market as the customer experience agency,” Dormand says.

“We’ve only gone from strength to strength after being acquired by the Publicis Groupe.”

Rebelo says the acquisition has allowed them to navigate a changing market and meet client needs to solve and advise across a wider brand and customer experience remit.

“It’s very rewarding to see Julie being promoted to CEO and Nick continue to take on a bigger role in the Publicis Groupe. You couldn’t script a better next chapter,” Rebelo says.
