Are Media has cancelled the TV WEEK Logie Awards this year due to COVID restrictions and lockdowns around the nation.

The awards were also cancelled last year due to the pandemic, with no online ceremony held.

The 62nd TV WEEK Logie Awards were due to take place on November 28 at The Star Gold Coast. However, the ongoing COVID outbreaks means organisers have “no certainty” to plan for a safe event.

“We are disappointed to have to cancel this year’s TV WEEK Logie Awards after charging ahead with plans to return for a bigger than ever event on the Gold Coast this November,” says Are Media group publisher Fiona Connolly.

“Unfortunately, our current COVID cases and travel restrictions leave us no choice. But we will return to Queensland mid 2022 and promise the TV WEEK Logie Awards will bring an overdue and deserved night of glamour, celebration and recognition of Australia’s outstanding television industry.”

The eligibility period for the 2022 TV WEEK Logie Awards will be from January 1, 2021 through to March 31, 2022.
