Journalists are in talks with Nine Entertainment for a new pay deal, the union, Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance (MEAA), has confirmed.

A proposed new Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA) would run to 2027 and deliver an 8% increase in pay in the first year, followed by 6% in the second and third years.

Part of the proposal put forward by staff also attempts to implement safeguards around AI usage and its impact on jobs, as well as improved career progression and more newsroom diversity and racial equality.

The current EBA expires at the end of June.
