Instagram is making ads on Instagram Shop available to advertisers across the globe.

The Facebook-owned platform began testing the ads this month with US-based advertisers. Ads will now be available in all countries where Instagram Shop is available, including Australia.

The ads will appear as tiles on the Instagram Shop tab home page. When users click on an ad they will be directed to the Product Details Page where they can learn more about the item, view additional imagery, and browse additional products from the brand. Users can also save the product to their wishlist or share it with friends.

“I’ve found the most success running ads in an environment where the consumer is already in a shopping mindset, which the Shop tab naturally attracts,” says senior associate of acquisition marketing at US-based retail brand Away, Hannah Gardner.

“The more frequently I can get in front of the consumer in that mindset, the better my potential for ROI.”

Instagram Shop was launched last year, along with Facebook Shop, as part of the social media company’s push into ecommerce.
