Iceland has created a promotional tourism video poking fun at Mark Zuckerberg’s announcement changing the name of Facebook to Meta, in honour of the metaverse.

“The Icelandverse is unlike any other open-world experience with ‘-verse’ in name, because it’s real,” says the video.

“Plus, you don’t need a funny-looking VR headset.”

Zack Mossbergsson, chief visionary officer and Zuckerberg look-alike: “Today I want to talk about a revolutionary approach on how to connect our world without being super weird.

“In our open world experience everything is real and has been for millions of years.

“It’s completely immersive, with water that’s wet, with humans to connect with."

The video was produced by Inspired by Iceland, a public-private communication platform to promote Iceland and Icelandic products. It is owned and operated by Business Iceland.
