Independent agency Howatson+Co has taken Japanese automaker Honda's media account after a competitive pitch, AdNews can reveal.

The aim of the pitch was to combine all of Honda's products, from vehicles to power products and engines, in one account.

A Honda spokesperson told AdNews the company is yet to finalise the process.

The incumbent Zenith Media decided not to repitch for the account after holding it since 2001.

“We would like to thank the Honda Australia team for a successful 17-year partnership," Jason Tonelli, Zenith CEO, said.

Honda's latest campaign, which introduced a new 36V battery, used Wavemaker as its media agency and independent TRP as creative agency.

AdNews can confirm Wavemaker did not participate in this pitch.

Last year's campaign, which introduced AI technology ‘Harvey’, used Leo Burnett as creative agency.

Howatson+Co did not reply to AdNews at time of publishing.
