GPY&R promotes Watkin

SYDNEY: George Patterson Y&R Melbourne has appointed Mark Watkin to the newly created role - head of the account service team.

Watkin has been with the agency for six years, the last two as group account director on Defence Force Recruiting, which the agency recently retained following a pitch.

Watkin also headed up AFL, James Boag’s, and Yellow Pages and launched the Victorian Government Black Balloons campaign in 2006.

GPY&R National CEO Russel Howcroft, said: “Mark has lead the Defence Force Recruiting team with great professionalism, passion and skill.

“His leadership during the tender process was extraordinary and he deserves the recognition of this appointment. He will continue to lead the DFR team.”

Originally from the UK, Watkin has previously worked at Saatchi & Saatchi and digital agency Hyperlink in London.

Watkin, said: “I’m really happy to take this role. It’s a great time to be with George Patterson Y&R Melbourne. We have talented people working with some great clients and brands.

“I’m looking forward to helping the agency continue to grow and making the best work with our clients. The agency is really making inroads on real brands and briefs.”
