Fairfax plans eclipse of the mobile ad

By AdNews | 7 October 2014

Fairfax Media has launched a mobile ad unit designed to take over the background of its Weatherzone app, and serve relevant ads based on weather conditions.

The “The Eclipse” unit is a clickable static image that directs users to places where they can buy Telfast hayfever products.

The mobile ad is based on a ‘Pollen Index’ that delivers ads promoting Telfast hayfever products to Weatherzone app users on high to extreme pollen days.

Weatherzone head of product Todd Baker said: “The Eclipse is a non-invasive ad unit that sits behind the app’s content, adding to the user experience with relevant information based on the conditions.”
