Independent creative and media agency Edge has joined forces with content producer Julian Townley to launch a content production company, Yello.

Townley will lead the new production venture as executive producer. He founded and led award-winning content and production company Red Engine SCC and before that worked in media and film production in Vancouver, Canada.

Edge managing director David Stretch says Yello is a standalone production company working directly with its own clients as well as the Edge team.

"Julian is an experienced operator with great skills and content smarts," says Stretch.

"Yello provides Edge with the capability to produce content more effectively and more competitively. In this content hungry world, there is an imperative to be able to produce work at pace and in multiple formats. Yello will enhance our agility in this regard and provide clients with a dynamic and simplified production approach.”

Yello has been operating since earlier in the year with several productions underway.

Townley sees significant opportunities for a fresh new way of delivering production solutions.

"We’re setting out to streamline the process from brief, to delivery to distribution. As an agile and wide-skilled production company we want to make it easier to produce great work,” he says.

Explaining the name, Townley says that while yellow is an Edge brand colour there is more to it.

“We wanted to create a link back to Edge, but more importantly signal the purpose behind the new venture," he says.

"Yello stands out. it’s bright, bold and brings a lot of energy which pretty much sums up our approach.”
