Ebay has appointed its first advertising director to meet growing demand from advertisers as part of the brand's push into the Australian market.

The online retailer has appointed David Odgers, former operations manager at travel group Nuance, to the newly created role.

Odgers has almost 15 years experience in the retail sector working on brands including Mars Australia, Telstra and Vodafone as a consultant at Bain and Company.

Most recently, he worked The Nuance Group, where he was operations director of the Sydney Airport Tax and Duty Free business.

Also recently joining eBay’s sales team is Chrissy Griffin from Sensis Media and Nicholas Ong from Ninemsn, taking the eBay sales team to eight people.
