A new digital sports radio station with exclusive English Premier League (EPL) rights in Australia will go to air later this week.

Eon Sports Radio, launched by Glenn Wheatley and John Wall, will become Australia's first national 24/7 sports radio station.

It has exclusive audio broadcasting rights of the EPL through an agreement with TalkSPORT, which controls EPL international audio rights until 2019, allowing the station to broadcast live commentary of all 380 English Premier League matches outside of the UK and Ireland.

"EPL has always had an enormous following in Australia and we are delighted to represent TalkSPORT in bringing the live broadcasts of each game to Australian audiences,” Wheatley says.

"Eon Sports Radio has an ambitious plan to create Australia’s first new national sports radio network and TalkSPORT looks forward to playing its part in the network’s upcoming launch," adds TalkSPORT director of international Jimmy Buckland.

Eon Sports Radio, which already has a web presence, will also cover Bundesliga, A-League, National Basketball League and FA Cup matches, and is interested in broadcasting at least one AFL match each week.
