Commonwealth Bank's general manager of media, social and PR, Jen Davidson, is due to exit the company just weeks after the completion of the bank's media review.

Davidson led the recent media review process, after the pitch was called in July, and had been at CommBank eight years, the first six years were spent in the role of executive manager - media and business affairs.

It's thought that Davidson's departure could be part of a further restrucure within the media team. CommBank confirmed her depature but gave no further comment.

It is also thought Davidson will take some time out, before looking for a new venture in the new year.

The CommBank review sent media agencies into a frenzy with the likes of OMD and IPG Mediabrands going up against the incumbent Ikon in the final round, with much speculation that Ikon would not retain the account it had held for 15 years.

It was six years since its last agency review, in which CommBank said both the media landscape and its brands had evolved - which prompted its decision to explore the market.

Ikon retained The Commonwealth Bank media account, which had not been up for pitch for six years. According to Nielsen, it estimates the bank spent $63m on main media in calendar year 2013.

Davidson was responsible for overall management of CommBank media, managing its agency and the group’s media investment.

Davidson also oversaw the content marketing, social media and public relations function for CommBank marketing and her team pushed digital marketing for CommBank, focusing on its online brands and apps – including the CommBank App – as well as SEM for the Group.

In the last year she has launched a branded blog, developed and implemented a PR and social content strategy and brought a community management function in-house.
