CommBank appoints acting CMO

The Commonwealth Bank has appointed general manager marketing of business and insititution, Martin Whelan, to the role of acting chief marketing officer, to replace outgoing CMO Mark Buckman.

Buckman leaves the financial institution this month after five years in the role, to become chief marketing officer at Telstra. He replaces Kate McKenzie, who has become group managing director, Telstra innovation, products and marketing. 

A spokesman for CBA told AdNews the bank is currently conducting a local and global search for a permanent chief marketing officer, but did not provide a time frame as to when a replacement will be appointed.

Whelan starts the new role on 14 March.
