With the absence of an Australian hopeful swinging a racket in Melbourne, The Block: Triple Threat was able to build on its audience, but Ten took the chocolates.

The Block, the premiere for which was well down on last season's numbers, managed to build its audience from 860,000 on Tuesday to 965,000, according to preliminary OzTAM numbers.

With Australia's great hope at the tennis, Nick Kyrgios, officially out of the tournament and the Socceroos not playing The Block was able to pick up the extra numbers, but it did face competition in the form of the Big Bash League final.

The first session attracted 773,000 viewers, but picked up steam towards the end of the match as it was coming down to its thrilling conclusion, with the Scorchers' innings pulling in 839,000 and the post-match bringing in 889,000.

However Ten says including the figures from Perth where the game was shown on ONE, the first session brought in 909,000 capital city viewers, the second session brought in 1.12 million viewers, with a dip off in the post match to 665,000.

Meanwhile, the tennis shed nearly more than million viewers from the night before, down to 723,000.

Overall, while The Block was a winner for Nine, Network Ten took home audience share with a 27.2% audience against Seven's 26.6% and Nine's 26%.

However on a main channel basis, Nine won the night with a 19.1% share against Ten's 18.9% and Seven's 18.7%.
