In a possible sign of things to come, Macquarire Radio Network (MRN) broadcaster Alan Jones will be taking up a permanent lunchtime show on Fairfax Radio Network (FRN)'s 4BC following his regular Sydney program.

The show, dubbed 'The Alan Jones Hour', will broadcast from midday to 1pm on weekdays in Brisbane. Jones had been doing a guest spot on the station covering the Queensland election in January.

It follows a merger implementation agreement between FRN and MRN which was announced at the end of last year, with the merger being put to a shareholder meeting in March.

4BC GM Anthony Frangi said the new show was the result of the “huge success” of Jones's election coverage.

“We have received an absolutely overwhelmingly positive response from our listeners to Alan Jones returning to 4BC and I am delighted to announce that Alan is staying on with our station with his weekday program, raising the issues that are relevant to Queenslanders,” Frangi said.

“Having such an experienced and skilled broadcaster as Alan Jones on 4BC for his expert commentary really complements our on-air team.”
