Young Lions from UM, Mindshare, Workstar, Audi, M&C Saatchi, Ogilvy Sydney, Tequila and DDB Melbourne will represent Australia at the Cannes Lions next month.
Last night, winners for the News Limited-sponsored Young Lions competition were announced in Sydney. Finalists competed in a 24-hour brief for the Priceline Sisterhood program, which supports women's health organisations.
In the Media category, UM's David Gray and Mindshare's Lina Nguyen were the winners while MediaCom's Sam Geer and Mindshare's Catherine Rushton received a Highly Commended. Mindshare's Benjamin Burrett and UM's Kristine Ballensky were also Highly Commended.
M&C Saatchi's Peter Renigeris and Ogilvy Sydney's Mietta McFarlane were victorious in the Print category while freelancer Garret Fitzgerald and Tequila's Sam Dickson took out the Digital category.
The Film category was won by DDB Melbourne's Daniel Grech and Jordy Molloy and Workstar's Sirisha Pulapaka and Audi's Helen Luoung came out on top in the Young Marketer category.
News Limited director of sales Tony Kendall said: “I can honestly say all this year's entries were outstanding in concept, creativity and execution, making judging even more difficult than usual.
“However every competition needs a winner and congratulations go to all the teams making their way to represent their country in Cannes this year.”
Priceline director of marketing Amanda Connors said: “It has been fantastic to see the brightest young creative minds in Australia develop some truly impressive campaigns concepts for the Priceline Sisterhood and our charity partners as part of the Young Lions program.”
The winning teams were chosen by a panel of creative and media executives. The winners will receive flights, accommodation and registration to the Cannes Lions festival, where they will fly the flag for Australia in the international Young Lions competition.
Last year, Leo Burnett Sydney creatives Matthew Swinburne and Michael Felix won the Young Lions Press Award in Cannes.
