Foxtel has joined forces with the AFL Coaches Association for a campaign that shines a light on grassroots football coaches.

Developed by Gemba, #ThanksCoach encourages local footy players to express their gratitude for all the tireless work their coaches put in. It features high profile coaches, such as Hawthorn Hawk's Alastair Clarkson, Sydney Swans' John Longmire and Brisbane Lions' Chris Fagan.

The campaign will roll out across TV and social media including a series of posters featuring Clarkson, Longmire and Fagan.

Foxtel director of marketing operations, media and sponsorship Justin Robinson says the campaign celebrates the one group in the game that is continually forgotten in all the hype – the local coaches, who “form the very bedrock of the game”.

AFL Coaches Association (AFLCA) CEO Mark Brayshaw adds: “Without the thousands of grassroots coaches out there, football players wouldn’t get guided, nurtured and developed into quality athletes and people. That’s why the AFL Coaches Association are delighted to throw their support behind Foxtel’s new #ThanksCoach campaign.”

As part of the campaign, Gemba has also developed a mentoring program with Foxtel and the AFLCA giving community coaches around Australia the chance to win a spot in a #ThanksCoach Masterclass, where local coaches can learn from some of the best in the business.

At the end of the #ThanksCoach Masterclass program, a select group of coaches will receive the 'Coach Trip of a Lifetime' to Melbourne to watch the AFL Grand Final and access AFLCA members.
