Meg Lanning and Steve Waugh among global sporting heroes #BreakingBoundaries for inspirational new video series

Inspirational messages from global sporting identities such as Steve Waugh, Meg Lanning, Brett Lee and Billie Jean King will spearhead a new video campaign to encourage more women into sport and to support female athleticism.

To coincide with the first matches of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup this weekend – and lend its support for the #FillTheMCG World Record attempt on March 8 – Facebook has unveiled a video series, #BreakingBoundaries, in partnership with the International Cricket Council.

The campaign showcases messages from sporting legends sharing their moments of resilience and overcoming adversity, and crucial moments that defined their careers, batting off with cricket legend and former Australian captain Steve Waugh and current Australia captain Meg Lanning.

The final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup at the MCG on Sunday, March 8 - International Women's Day - is aiming to set a new world record for attendance at a women's sporting fixture.

The current record crowd of 90,185 was set at the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup final in Pasadena, California.

The video assets can be viewed on Facebook and Instagram.
