IGA is reviving the old classic G'Day G'Day as part of an Australia Day campaign to shout about its local stores. It has enlisted a raft of up and coming musicians to sing a modern version of the song made famous by Slim Dusty.

Designed to encourage locals to go into stores and say G'Day, ads will run on outdoor screens and across social networks this week until 19 April. The track will also be available for download.

IGA has also tasked two Australian artists to sketch personalised Australia Day drawings it will post to its Twitter fans.

Michele Teague, general manager of marketing at Metcash Food & Grocery, said: “As the Independent Grocers of Australia, IGA retailers want to give back to our customers this Australia Day. By resurrecting the household classic, ‘G’day G’day’ we want to celebrate everything that is great about being Australian, encouraging the whole country to sing along and say G’day to each other."
