Young Lions learn perseverance the long way round

16 June 2014

32 hours and we’re (nearly) in Cannes.

Yes. The rumours are true. It takes a long time to get anywhere from Australia.

Rohan and I are the last duo of the Australian Young Lion’s crew to make it to Cannes and well; we still haven’t made it. Heathrow airport is our home for the next 12 hours.

Although we can’t tell you how picturesque the beaches are just yet, or share with you photos of us bumping into C-grade celebrities, we can share this photo from inside a candy store where we took a much needed jet-lag nap with a life sized bear.

We can also share the top three things we’re looking forward to watching, seeing, listening and tweeting throughout our times at Cannes.

1) How to bring your other ideas to reality: Excited to see this seminar on how one idea can begin to form a role in our every day lives.

2) Meet the disruptors: Spike Jonze and Gaston Legorburu on building worlds with technology and a story. Being big fans of Her, we’re intrigued to hear Spike Jonze discuss how our relationship with technology can affect our relationships with each other.

3) The 8th Annual Grey Music seminar: We’ll have the chance to watch our CCO Tor Myhren from Grey’s New York office interview the inspirational/controversial Courtney Love on a life of continuous reinvention and creative perseverance.

Perseverance.

The last word we’ll leave you with as we read that our flight has been delayed a further hour.

Laura Petruccelli and Rohan Cooke are the digital Young Lions finalists. They ply their craft at Grey.
