Countdown of Awesome: Virtual queues, holograms on smartphones and robots

26 September 2013

Number 5: Hydrophobic street art

You have to see this one to understand. This clear spray creates a surface that repels water with an unnatural passion. A really simple idea that we could use today.

Number: Holho

Last year everyone was blown away with Tupac’s resurrection at Coachella, now you can do it with your own phone. Holho is a kickstarter project which turns your smartphone or tablet into a hologram projector.

Number 3: Creators Project – ‘Box’

3D projections are pretty cool but have been done to death a bit recently. This example from the Vice / Intel Creators Project injects performance and movement to produce effects that are truly awesome.

Number 2: It’s your fault’

An Indian woman is raped every 22 minutes according to government statistics. ‘It’s your fault’ uses satirical comedy to deftly prove that it is never a woman’s fault.

Number 1: Samsung Galaxy S4 Virtual store line.

For Samsung’s latest Galaxy S4 release in NZ it created a virtual queue outside their store. Fans would sign up online to join the virtual queue and earn their way towards the front by leveraging their social networks. Screens set up outside the store brought to life the virtual queue, but most importantly over 85,000 stories were shared by the participants on social media over the two-week period.

If we have missed anything give us a shout.
