Countdown of Awesome: Nike + Kinect Training vs. Zomney

8 November 2012

This week’s gems include Hollywood directors Guy Ritchie and Joss Whedon promoting Call of Duty and the Mit Romney zombie invasion as well as the brilliant Nike + Kinect Training.

Number 5) Call of Duty vs. Guy Ritchie
Starting off this week’s countdown is a brilliant new ad for Call of Duty:Black Ops 2 directed by Guy Ritchie. One ridiculously well-equipped assassin after another is prevented from dispatching a mark when it turns out that they themselves have become targets – even Robert Downey Jr isn’t safe in his cameo appearance…

Number 4) Zomney: He needs brains
In arguably one of the best mock political ads ever made, Hollywood director Joss Whedon (of The Avengers, Buffy the Vampire Slayer etc) implores us to vote for Mick Romney in order to rush in the zombie apocalypse. Cut backs in healthcare, education, and reproductive rights are all of course crucial elements in deliver a zombie waste land.

“The 1% will no longer be the very rich, they’ll be the very fast”

Zomney

Number 3) CNN’s Empire State Building live Election results
In another interesting US Election activation, CNN came up with a far more interesting way of showing polling results by visualising them on the Empire State Building. The skyscraper’s LEDs were displayed red and blue alongside live election results. To find out how their preferred party was getting along, New Yorkers merely needed to look up.

Number 2) Nike+ Xbox Kinect Training
The much anticipated Nike + Kinect Training is now out. The concept behind the programme is to provide users with the very same level of training given to elite athletes.

Through Xbox Kinect you can train at home through the game, earn fuel points and track your performance as part of the Nike+ platform with the Kinect measuring your every move. It also evaluates your progress every month and allows you to tap into the Nike+ community and work out with friends over Xbox Live.

Big congrats to my ex-AKQA colleagues for this. The hundreds of hours of hard work put in by the Nike team, including some very strange looking exercise moves I witnessed being performed last year clearly paid off…

Number 1) Oakley Airwave GPS & Bluetooth head-up display goggles
In another great piece of product innovation, Oakley’s new Airwave goggles enable you to receive calls and messaging as well as check out your jump analytics – all whilst hurtling down a mountain. There are also preloaded maps so you can find where you are, and spot your friends. Additional sensor information includes altitude, speed, temperature, and vertical descent data.

However much they cost, I’m getting some.
