Ben Welsh: Playing the 'mine's bigger than yours' game

More awards today including some interesting mobile work. It is apparently the year of mobile and the first time it has had a category of its own here.

Media lions had some great work, but why is it a media lion rather than, say, any other category?

Sat through some of the TV screenings where you get to see what people have entered before any judgement occurs. I'd say a lot of money has been wasted.

Learnings:

Coke seminar is talk of the day. Shame I missed it, but crux seemed to be all markets are now one, big international one, so think global even when acting local. (Wasn't that the HSBC line a while ago?)

Even the dullest seminars can contain a useful lesson. In this instance the lesson is that while trends change, human emotions don't. However it went on for 60 minutes.

Someone will always have a bigger yacht than you. The mine's bigger than yours game-play surrounds us, with some crazy big yachts, each seemingly bigger than the other moored off shore. One has a helicopter on top.

This blog seems to be getting shorter everyday, so I have room to add, England have beaten Ukraine. Phew. And France lost! Ha.
