Virgin Australia has signed on as the official domestic airline of one of Australia's most popular sports, V8 Supercars.

Virgin Australia will join other sponsors such as BigPond, Seven, XXXX Gold, Jim Beam, Armoral, Coates Hire, Dick Smith, Fujitsu, Mother, Fuso and Dunlop.

The airline will support 15 Australian events and one in New Zealand.

Virgin Australia group executive of commercial Liz Savage said, “This is a unique opportunity for Virgin Australia to be involved with Australia’s premiere motor racing body, and we are proud to be the official domestic airline.”

“Virgin Australia will offer the loyal V8 Supercar fan base a range of great value fares and tailor made packages from Blue Holidays. With the convenience of more flights, more often, we can help fans reach their favourite race track destination all over the country.”

Last week, Nissan revealed it was making a local brand play by entering the V8 Supercar Championship, to compete alongside Ford and Holden.
