George Patterson Y&R Brisbane and Publicis Mojo Brisbane have been appointed to the $35 million Tatts Group creative account, while Mitchell & Partners Brisbane has picked up the media business.

The incumbent agencies on Tatts were Ogilvy Sydney, Publicis Mojo Brisbane and MediaCom Brisbane. Mojo previously worked on Golden Casket and the Tattersals Lotteries network, while Ogilvy was responsible for NSW Lotteries. George Patterson Y&R Brisbane now holds responsibilities for the national Tatts Group Lotteries business and the instant scratch-it account.

Publicis Mojo Brisbane has retained the TattsBet account.

George Patterson Y&R Brisbane managing director Mike Harris said: “The Tatts Group has a fantastic portfolio of products and we're very excited about the opportunity to work with them to develop strategies and effective campaign results. The whole process was exciting and utilised GPY&R's national resources to develop some fantastic thinking and creative ideas.”

Publicis Mojo Brisbane partner Rob Kent said: "Tatts have been loyal to Mojo since winning the instant scratch-its business 23 years ago. We're very pleased to have retained the TattsBet account and we're looking forward to working with the TattsBet team going forward. Twenty three years is a long time in anyone's language and a lot of category experience will be lost in the change over. We wish Tatts Lotteries well.”

“The loss comes off a strong year for Mojo Brisbane, having won QLD Rail, Eagle Boys Pizza and the Sanofi Aventis accounts," Kent said. "Three and a half out of four ain't bad.”

Publicis Mojo has been a long standing partner with Golden Casket and more recently Tatts Group, for more than 20 years. Ogilvy partnered with NSW Lotteries for more than 10 years, while MediaCom worked on the lottery business for 14 years.

In early September, AdNews revealed the shortlist for the creative component of Tatts Group which was down to George Patterson Y&R, Publicis Mojo and BCM. The decision comes nearly seven months after the company called for a tender for its advertising and media accounts.

The news of Mitchell & Partners' win comes as the Brisbane office appoints a new general manager. Group account director Gabriela Merrick has been appointed general manager.
