Shine Australia bosses get promoted

Shine Australia and New Zealand joint chief executives Carl and Mark Fennessy have been rewarded for their leadership skills and been promoted to the roles of CEO of Shine USA and president of Shine Network respectively.

Shine Australia is expected to announce additional management appointments for the business shortly. Both promotions are in addition their current Shine Australia positions.

Carl Fennessy will be based in Los Angeles and will be responsibly for driving the ongoing commercial strategy of the company. Mark Fennessy will continue to be based in Sydney and will focus in particular on forging new co-production relationships in countries that have no Shine Group presence.

Shine Group chair and CEO Elisabeth Murdoch said: “Mark and Carl have taken Shine Australia from a standing start to the market leader in barely over a year. An extraordinary achievement that is down their respective and complementary creative and commercial skills, and the energy and drive they share. Their new, extended roles come in recognition of this and will respectively allow the Group to further benefit from these skills.”

Shin Australia, which was set up in January 2010, produces programming for the Australasian markets such as Junior MasterChef, The Biggest Loser and Next Top Model. Before joining Shine Mark and Calr Fennessy were CEO and chief operating officer at FremantlyMedia Australia.
