It's the marketing stunt that takes in-flight entertainment and branded content to stratospheric levels. Disney's latest flick 'Planes' will be premiered 30,000 feet in the sky, in a partnership with Qantas. And it stars a plane with kangaroo tattoo.

The premiere will be held on 7 September in a Qantas Boeing 747, and will be aired to 254 Qantas passengers.

The new Disney movie tells the story of Dusty, a crop duster with dreams of becoming an air racer. Australian actress Jessica Marais will star in the movie as Rochelle, an Australian plane with a kangaroo painted on her side.

Meanwhile, Qantas will also paint one of its aircrafts with 'Planes' themes and colours.

“This unique premiere combines storytelling with fun, innovation and a once in a lifetime experience that reflects the core essence of Disney,” said Walt Disney Company Australia managing director John Cracknell.

“Disney and Qantas share a long term bond with Australian families and a passion for innovation and excellence. We are thrilled to have Qantas as our official co-pilot for Planes in Australia and for the best family entertainment in the skies.”

Qantas group executive of brand, marketing and corporate affairs Olivia Wirth said: ”Qantas is excited to be hosting a movie premiere in the sky.

“We're thrilled to have an Australian plane in this Disney movie, who will definitely appeal to our young passengers. We’ll be working with Disney on lots of activities around the film,” she said.
