Pacific Mags and Weight Watchers fall foul

EXCLUSIVE: Pacific Magazines has ended its relationship with the Weight Watchers title, with sources hinting that tensions in the partnership led to its demise.

Weight Watchers said it has launched a tender in the hunt for a new publisher for Weight Watchers Magazine.

Weight Watchers senior business manager of publishing Faye James said “at this stage [we] are unable to confirm who the successful company is,” suggesting the business has already appointed a partner.

AdNews understands that ACP Magazines and NewsLifeMedia were competing for the business, and that Pacific Magazines was not taking part in the process. One source has suggested the frontrunner was NewsLifeMedia, but Weight Watchers would not comment.

Neither Weight Watchers nor Pacific Magazines would discuss reasons for the end of the relationship, which has lasted for over ten years.

However, multiple sources have suggested that tensions in the partnership led to the severing of ties.
