News Limited CEO Kim Williams has made another change to his senior ranks, appointing The Daily Telegraph digital director Michelle D'Almeida as MD of the company's WA operations.

D'Almeida starts her role on 6 February and will be responsible for The Sunday Times and the PerthNow website. She will report to News Limited's managing director of group newspapers and digital products Jerry Harris.

D'Almeida succeeds Jason Scott who was appointed managing director of News Queensland last month. There has not yet been a replacement announced for her successor at The Daily Telegraph.

Harris said: “Michelle is widely respected within the company for the success she has achieved in senior advertising and digital positions in three different cities in Australia and the US.

“This broad based experience makes her the ideal candidate to lead The Sunday Times, the division of News Limited she first joined 17 years ago. We are particularly excited that Michelle’s experience leading digital strategy at the New York Post and The Daily Telegraph will help drive the ongoing success of PerthNow in the fiercely competitive West Australian online news market.”

D’Almeida has worked for News Limited and News Corporation since 1995 beginning as a senior agency account manager. In 2004 she moved to America working her way to become vice president online and classified advertising for The New York Post.

D’Almeida returned to Australia in 2008 as deputy advertising director of The Daily Telegraph. She was promoted to digital director in 2010.

A raft of changes have been made at news Limited since the new CEO Kim Williams took over the reigns including Ed Smith who yesterday moved to Foxtel.
