News Corp Australia has appointed Fox Sports senior marketing manager Lindsay Chappel as its new general manager of marketing for NSW.

Chappel will be responsible for marketing strategy and activity of News Corp's NSW brands including The Daily Telegraph and all NewsLocal community titles.

She replaces David Goldman who left the company in August, and takes over from acting general manager marketing NSW Bettina Brown, who has been appointed general manager retail and media.

Brown will report to News Corp Australia group director of marketing Damian Eales, while Chappel reports to executive general manager of NSW Brett Clegg.

"Lindsay has all the attributes we wish to associate with our business, including not only a sharp and creative mind but a great deal of tenacity and stamina, especially needed as our business transitions to a new era of cross-platform journalism and advertising solutions," Clegg said.

Prior to joining Fox Sports, Chappel was director of full-service 'engagement marketing' agency GMR Marketing, and has also spent time in senior marketing and sponsorship roles at M&C Saatchi Sport & Entertainment, Toyota and Traffik.

She takes up her new role on 28 January 2014.
