Stokes makes play for UK’s Channel 5: Australian media mogul Kerry Stokes is considering a bid for British broadcaster Channel 5, which has been put up for sale by media tycoon Richard Desmond for £700 million ($1.2bn), The Australian reports.

CBS to help Ten cut costs: The AFR reports that Ten Network executives met with CBS executives last month to discuss a content deal with the United States network, as part of a broader cost reduction program.

Twitter TV love-in: Also in The AFR, Twitter has formally declared the platform is “thriving” due to Australian TV broadcasters, with the single biggest catalyst for conversation on Twitter in Australia being TV shows. The social media platform is trying to get more TV companies to sign up to Amplify.

Sun Herald editor moves to Sunday Life: The Australian reports that editor of the Sun Herald, Kate Cox has become editor of the Sunday Life magazine. Deputy editor David Rood has taken up the role of acting editor, with no word from Fairfax as to who will be named as Cox's replacement.

New weekend line up for Today: Also in The Australian, Nine News presenter Deborah Knight and newsreader Sylvia Jeffreys have been appointed the new Weekend Today hosts, replacing Leila McKinnon while she is on maternity leave.
