Mediabrands-owned entertainment company Ensemble is finally launching its Melbourne office, with Octagon strategy director Jamie Gilbert-Smith named general manager.

The company announced early last year that it was to open a Melbourne office, and was on the hunt for a managing director to lead the operation. Nearly a year later, the business has found a general manager to lead the southern arm.

With the creation of the new office, Ensemble founder Tim Hodgson will become general manager of Sydney operations, while managing director Justin Ricketts will oversee the national Sydney/Melbourne operation.

Initially, the office will have only one staff member, however it will be heavily resourced from the Sydney office.

The Melbourne office has been launched to provide on-ground support for Melbourne-based clients including L’Oreal, Bunnings and Origin.

Ricketts said: “Jamie carries the credit for a broad range of campaigns including traditional sponsorships, branded content, brand engagement platforms and media leverage programs. His experience and strategic leadership for clients is first class and ideal to lead our Melbourne office, as well as contribute to Ensemble’s national operations.”

The Melbourne office will officially open in the first week of March.
