In an embarrassing turn of events, it has emerged that Starcom Mediavest Group was in fact the winner of the Agency Network of the Year award at last night's Festival of Media Global awards – not MediaCom.
While the festival website still says MediaCom went home happy, AdNews now has pictorial and Twittorial proof it was in fact Starcom Mediavest:
The event's website features a big photo of Starcom's John Sintras holding the trophy. And here is a photo of the trophy itself, note the engraving:
The tip off comes via Simon Lloyd at Access PR, which looks after SMV. Lloyd is now trying to limit the damage for the festival, which is not even his client.
