Clemenger BBDO Sydney junior staffer Ray Ali has taken out the $35,000 first prize creative scholarship to Miami Ad School for his entry into the inaugural Stockvertising competition.

The local competition launched earlier in the year, encouraging enthusiasts to transform seemingly irrelevant stock images from Getty into creative advertising.

Ali created an imaginary ad for Berocca, featuring a man wandering through a green field wearing a pink tutu with the strapline, ‘Ever had one of those nights?’

The judging panel for the competition included industry heavyweights Todd Sampson, Tom McFarlane, Craig Davis, Matty Burton, Adam Ferrier, Tom Moult and Iain McDonald.

Miami Ad School is a global advertising college specialising in copywriting and art direction which set up shop in Sydney earlier this year, led by former Communications Council professional training director Helga Diamond.

The 2011 Gunn Report named it the most awarded advertising school in the world. To see a list of finalists and judges comments, check out page 22 in the June 15 2012 issue of AdNews.
