Bauer confirms Elle launch date

Bauer has finally committed to a launch date for women's fashion magazine Elle in Australia. The first issue will go on sale in September, ending months of industry speculation about its arrival.

The publishing group, formerly called ACP Magazines, first announced plans to launch the international title in November 2011, claiming it would launch in autumn 2012. It then pushed the date back in March last year to an unconfirmed date.

Nine's selling of ACP to German publisher Bauer, to which it has now re-branded, had added to uncertainty over the launch.

However, that has been clarified by the firm, which will publish the magazine in conjunction with Elle's international publisher, Hearst Magazines. The first issue of Australian Elle will be its October issue on sale in September, with its website live from August. The company has not yet revealed who the editor will be.

Bauer Media chief executive Matthew Stanton said the magazine would give “readers and marketers... the opportunity to participate in a multiplatform magazine from the start”.

The group also publishes The Australian Women's Weekly, Woman's Day, Dolly, Cosmopolitan, Madison, and Grazia.
