Ahead of the long-rumoured launch of Facebook video ads, autoplay mobile video is now available in 90% of iOS user's News Feeds, and a lesser percentage of Android devices.

The company has ramped up the trial launched in September but it is understood that while the capability to push autoplay video to most mobile users exists, the number of users actually receiving video remains low.

Facebook was unable to comment on whether when or if autoplay video ads would launch, although it is thought it could be next quarter.

It remains to be seen how Facebook's billion-plus users will react to autoplay video ads.
