Yahoo!'s outgoing CEO Scott Thompson, who was fired yesterday after questions arose over embellishments on his resume, is leaving the company without any severance payment.

In a major blow to Yahoo!'s global credibility, Thompson departed yesterday, after it was revealed his resume included a college degree he had never received.

According to reports, Thomspn will receive no pay-out, despite the fact former CEO Carol Bartz, who was also fired, received a payout of US$3 million.

The company's head of global media Ross Levinsohn will act as interim chief executive, effective immediately.

Thompson was brought on board in Janaury, to replace Bartz, who was removed from the company due to the company's financial and brand issues.

Bartz was hired in 2009 to replaced Jerry Yang, a co-founder of the company.

Thompson's resume included a college degree he never received.
