Mediabrands' creative shop Airbone has hired Andrew Sidwell to the newly created role of creative strategy and ideas director.

Mediabrands launched Airborne earlier this year after acquiring and rebadging Creative Breeze. Sidwell joins the agency from the position of national creative solutions and ideas director at Southern Cross Austereo. Sidwell had been with Austereo since 2005 in the roles of creative solutions director and creative integration specialist.

“The opportunity to take this new role at Airborne is one I cannot resist,” Sidwell said in a statement.

“All the businesses within Mediabrands collaborate very closely across their various sectors and I hope to develop a role that accelerates creative thinking and strategy for not only Airborne clients, but also in collaboration across other Mediabrands businesses.”

Airborne managing director Scott Player described Sidwell as a “unique talent”.

“I have had the pleasure of working with him in the past and he is digitally savvy, a dynamic and surprising thinker, and a unique problem solver,” Player said in a statement.

“His talents impact client outcomes in a most demonstrable way and he will be a big asset for Airborne and Mediabrands.”
