Adidas Olympic parody makes good marketing game

Adidas, official sponsor of team Great Britain, has rolled out an irreverent version of Queen's Don't Stop Me Now starring its sponsored Olympic athletes and football star David Beckham.

Beckham features as the video's mock director, calling "action" on a sequence of shots starring Adidas sponsored athletes including Jessica Ennis, Victoria Pendleton and Louis Smith. The patriotic parody sees the medalists in their sporting gear and mouthing the words of the infamous 70's anthem.

The video was uploaded just hours before the start of the Olympics Closing Ceremony to the Adidas official YouTube channel, and follows a host of Olympic-themed commercials and activations from the brand. It has already been viewed over 546,609 times.

Adidas UK marketing director Nick Craggs said: "Adidas is the Olympic brand and this video is a great demonstration of how we have supported Team GB and captured the mood of the nation.

"London 2012 will be remembered as the best Olympic Games ever and this is a celebration of Adidas' 'Take The Stage' campaign and the amazing achievements Team GB athletes have accomplished."
